From April 10th to 12th, the 5th event of the UGP Málaga Tour WAGR 2025-26 took place at the always demanding course of Añoreta Golf & Resort in Málaga.
The weekend proved to be a constant challenge for all players due to the course’s inherent difficulty and the ever-changing weather conditions.
On Friday, the round became particularly tough during the back nine as heavy showers at times turned the game into a matter of survival.
In the men’s category, Javier Pérez-Tasso delivered an outstanding performance, mastering the course with a superb round of 71, finishing 4 shots ahead of Iván Díaz and 5 ahead of UGP Málaga player David García.
In the women’s category, Elisa Del Alcázar adapted best to the conditions and posted the lowest score of the day with a 79, taking a 2-shot lead over UGP Málaga player Alejandra Cervera, who carded an 81.
On Saturday, weather conditions remained the same, requiring players once again to demonstrate their ability to adapt to adversity.
In the men’s field, UGP Málaga player José Manuel Fernández produced an impressive bogey-free round of 69, moving into second place behind Javier Pérez-Tasso, who returned a 74, and ahead of David García, who remained in contention after shooting level par.
On the women’s side, UGP Málaga player Alejandra Cervera led after the second round, repeating her opening score with another 81. She would head into Sunday with a 3-shot lead over Elisa Del Alcázar and 6 over Amy Elizabeth Gay—the three players set to battle for victory.
Sunday saw the rain disappear, but strong winds took its place, meaning players once again had to showcase their adaptability in challenging conditions.
The men’s leaderboard saw an unexpected turn. Javier Pérez-Tasso and David García made a series of early mistakes, allowing UGP Málaga player José Manuel Fernández to take the lead, which he held until the end thanks to a solid level-par round. He ultimately secured victory by a margin of 5 shots over Javier Pérez-Tasso, claiming another win on the UGP WAGR Tour.
In the women’s event, the battle for victory went down to the final hole. Amy Elizabeth Gay, representing La Torre Golf Resort in Murcia, arrived at the last hole with a one-shot lead over Alejandra Cervera. A brilliant birdie by Amy Elizabeth sealed the championship in her favor, earning her first win on the circuit.
The UGP WAGR Tour will close the 2025–2026 season with its final event, to be held from May 22nd to 24th at Lauro Golf in Málaga.
