From May 22 to 24, the sixth and final event of the UGP Malaga Tour WAGR 2025-26 was held at the Lauro Golf & Resort course in Malaga.
The course was in perfect condition, always posing a challenge when making decisions for the players, who despite this and the heat throughout the weekend, demonstrated a great performance.
On Friday, the day dawned sunny and with hardly any wind, so from early on, both men and women were able to enjoy ideal conditions for playing golf.
In the men’s section, from the very first day of competition, the Granada player, Antonio Muñoz, took the lead in the standings, posting a solid round of 75 strokes, followed by a chasing trio made up of UGPM players Emre Safak and Marco de Nova and former student of the program, William Sherman, who all carded 77 strokes.
Meanwhile, in the women’s competition, 3 players stood out from the rest of the players, led by the player from the Andalusian federation, Chanya Huaysan, with a great round of Par, followed closely by Sara Rattone and Katrina Bulkovska, both presenting a card with 75 strokes.
On Saturday, another sunny day dawned, which ended up being hot but did not prevent both men and women from displaying a good level of golf.
In the men’s category, Antonio Muñoz demonstrated his current high level, beating the course with a round of 71 strokes and increasing his advantage over the player from Sweden, Filip Racov, who, with a card of 73 strokes, was 5 strokes behind the Andalusian player.
On the women’s side, Canya Huaysan consolidated her lead in an extraordinary way, with a round of 70 strokes, demonstrating what a great player she is and leaving 9 strokes advantage for the last day with respect to Amy Gay, who also demonstrated a great level of play by delivering a Par course card.
Sunday was no exception and also gave us a wonderful day for playing golf and for the enjoyment of both the players and their companions.
In the men’s category, Antonio Muñoz confirmed the dominance he had shown in the previous days of competition and presented another solid round of 73 strokes that allowed him to win the last event of the UGPM WAGR TOUR with a 6-stroke advantage over Filip Racov and thus become part of the much-desired classification in the amateur world ranking.
In the women’s division, Chanya Huaysan left no room for doubt, dominating the competition from start to finish, culminating the day with another great round of even par, finishing 14 strokes ahead of the second-place finisher, Amy Gay, and thus becoming a double winner of the circuit this season.
The UGPM WAGR TOUR 2025-2026 brings this season to a close, thanking both the players for their participation and the clubs that have opened their doors to give our young athletes an opportunity.
We look forward to seeing you at the UGPM WAGR TOUR 2026-2027.
