From December 15 to 17 we compete in the third event of the Tour WAGR UGP Spain under enviable weather conditions in the Malaga course of Añoreta Golf Resort.
Añoreta, with its narrow fairways, dangerous holes and greens that are difficult to read, always poses a challenge for players, and this time it was no different.
On Friday, the first day of competition, the results were very even between the players who were leading the day, six players finished within three strokes of each other, which suggested that we would have a very interesting weekend ahead.
However, on Saturday, the course took its toll on several of the players who were in the first positions with the exception of the local player Jorge Sánchez, who with a very solid game and a round of par, achieved a wide advantage in strokes with respect to to the immediate pursuers.
Jorge started Sunday five strokes ahead of Juan José Puentes and eight over Omar Gómez, both UGP Spain players.
A bad start by the leader, together with a great start by Juan José, meant that after three holes the difference would have been reduced to one stroke, but the play played by Jorge Sánchez from the fourth hole onwards left no room for doubt that the from Malaga would become the deserved winner of the competition.
With this tournament we put an end to a year full of great experiences and a great level of golf.
We want to thank all the players for participating in our circuit and we are waiting for you all at the first event of the 2024 UGP WAGR Spain Tour that we will hold at the Zaudín Golf course in Seville from February 2 to 4.
Merry Christmas and a happy New Year!
