During the 2nd, 3rd and 4th of May the sixth and last round of the UGP Tour WAGR 2024-25, was played at Parador de Málaga golf course, this time 55 players came together in what would eventually become a fight against the strong wind of the weekend.
On Friday 2nd, the day started cool and with a light breeze, which didn’t stop the players from playing a good game throughout the 18 holes. In fact, five of them managed to beat the course, highlighting the magnificent 68 (-4) strokes of Benjamin Van Braak, who ended up leading the day, followed closely by the UGP player, David Garcia and Ignacio Laulhé with rounds of 69 (-3).
On Saturday 3rd, the wind wanted to be the main defender of the course, complicating the game and making the players face really complicated shots during the day. The results were not the same as the first day as expected, but even so, Benjamin Van Braak managed to beat the course with a score of 71 (-1), consolidating the lead. It is worth mentioning the great round of Alvaro Trujillano, 70 (-2) strokes, on a day so complicated for the practice of golf.
Saturday ended with Benjamin leading with 3 strokes ahead of Ignacio Laulhé, 4 over Eladio Pérez and 5 over Sebastián Desoisa, who would be the players who would make up the stellar game on Sunday.
On Sunday 4th, the wind was strong from the morning, we already know what that means at Parador, the players were going to face a tough day of survival, control and a lot of patience.
Benjamin Van Braak started with birdie on the first hole, but a series of mistakes cost him and he spent the first 9 holes with +4 on the day, which meant that both Sebastian Desoisa who was -1 and Alvaro Trujillano who was -2 were equal in the standings and everything was open for the last 9 holes.
In the end, Sebastian Desoisa was two shots ahead of Benjamin Van Braak and Alvaro Trujillano who had finished the day with a magnificent 71 (-1), finishing the tournament with a par total. A birdie-bogey still gave Benjamin a chance, however, he did not make it. Sebastian secured the bogey, finishing with a 71 (-1) for the day and -1 for the tournament total, achieving a magnificent victory.
It has been a nice and tough tournament to end the UGP Tour WAGR 24/25.
