Expansion and development of university golf in Spain.
After a few weeks without publishing articles, we would like to share with you in this “UGP Style” segment, what has been the transition from UGPM to the University Golf Program.
As you know, we will open a new UGP headquarters in the city of Seville in September 2023. It is due to the same expansion of our university golf team that our name has been simplified to the acronym of UGP, thus giving rise to two golf teams in Malaga and Seville.
Our commitment to young golf began in 2014, when the idea of creating a university golf program for young athletes who wanted to stay in Europe combining their undergraduate studies with an intensive golf program was born.
Due to the fruit of the work of our professionals and the confidence of the players, we have been growing year after year, contributing more and more to university sports in Spain, thus offering a unique opportunity throughout continental Europe.
On the other hand, it should be noted that we not only contribute our grain of sand to university golf in Spain, but also to young golfers from all over the world. During these years, we have had players of more than 24 different nationalities. Players who have come from South America, North America, Asia, Africa, and practically all European countries.
How do we continue to contribute to university golf in Spain?
In our beginnings we have started with undergraduate and postgraduate courses in universities in Spanish. However, over the years, we have been able to adapt to the academic needs of each player, regardless of their native origin.
For many of the non-Spanish speaking players, we have developed the GAP Year program, where they can combine the golf program with a Spanish course during an academic year.
For 3 years we have started with Road2USA (soon in UGP Sevilla as well), a program for those players who want to study in American universities.
In addition to these three different types of academic offers, we offer higher education courses every year for those who want to develop professionally in the golf industry, managed by Club Manager Education.
And finally, we have adapted to online studies by offering studies in both English and Spanish.
This is how year after year, we are renewing and adapting to the changes of the global world.
